128th Death Anniversary of Maharajah Duleep Singh

The Anglo Punjab Heritage Foundation hosted the 128th death anniversary of Maharajah Duleep Singh at Elveden today. The service was conducted by the Reverend Paul Tamms and the Sikh prayers were recited by Giani Baldev Singh of Norwich Gurdwara.

Wreaths were laid by Major Daljinder Singh Virdee of the SIkh Defence Network, the Mayor of Thetford, Deputy Mayor of Mildenhall, Mrs Safina Karim on behalf of the Punjabi community of Thetford, Harpreet Kaur of Norwich & Norfolk Sikh Society, and Capt Ramneek Kaur of the Khalsa Jatha British IslesThe reception was held at the Thomas Paine Hotel, where speeches were given by the Mayor, Capt Jay Sohal of the War Graves Committee.

Jasbir Kaur Rabbaban MBE gave a welcoming note and read a statement from our patron HH Maharaja Sukhjit Singh of Kapurthala, with a note of thanks by Duleep Singh biographer Peter Bance Guests included Christy Campbell, storyteller Seema Anand, Amardeep Singh (Dalewalia Misl) Harminder Gill, Oliver Bone of Thetford Museum, historian-Priyal Atwal, Roy Brame Chairman of Breckland Council, Cllr John Ward Norfolk Museum Services, indi Sandhu of ECDP and Gurpreet Anand – Central Gurdwara London and Sikh Scholar Gurinder Singh from the Sikh Museum Initiative.
