The History and legacy of Jassa Singh Ramgharia.
Sikh scholar and head of the SMI Gurinder Singh Mann, will be undertaking a special presentation on the history and legacy of Sikh warrior of the Ramgharia Misl-Jassa Singh Ramgharia (1723-1803).
Mann will explain the relevance of the Jassa Singh during the Misl period and the impact of capturing many territories in the Punjab. The genealogy of Jassa Singh will be alluded to including the significance of his grandfather Bhai Hardas (a scribe and warrior) under Guru Gobind Singh.
When the Mughals were at the strongest what was Jassa Singh’s contribution in turning the tide against them? What was Ramgargh? What significant object was taken by Jassa Singh from the throne of the Delhi King, Shah Alum II? These are answers that will be given by Sikh scholar Gurinder Singh Mann.
