Sophia Duleep Singh and the Votes for Women

Oct
23

A team of volunteers is sending a Suffrage Flag around the UK as part of Civil Service Celebrations for the Suffrage Centenary.

The Festivals and Events team of Leicester City Council & the Sikh Museum Initiative will be visiting the Guru Tegh Bahadur Gurdwara on 23rd October 2018 at 5pm. They will bring the suffragette flag where you can learn more about the Votes for Women commemorations.

The Suffragette exhibition taking place at New Walk Museum Leicester from 27th October 2018 will also be discussed.

There will be a small talk on the contribution made by Sophia Duleep Singh to the suffragette movement. Sophia Duleep Singh was the daughter of Maharajah Duleep Singh and granddaughter of the lion of the Punjab Maharajah Ranjit Singh and Maharani Jindan Kaur.

We would like to see as many women and men to attend this event.
